Hello everyone, 

 

It's not December yet, but I wanted to send this email out before everyone is completely booked out before the holidays. We'll have a couple of different gatherings in December, so hopefully everyone who's interested will be able to make it to at least one of them.

 

English Stammtisch Ulm

The regular monthly restaurant meeting in Ulm; as it's become tradition, we'll be going to Konzertsaal in Neu-Ulm for our last meeting of the year. Everyone is welcome to come sporting their finest seasonal attire.

 

December 13th, 7pm

Christmas Market Ulm

Some of our group members have decided to organize a Christmas Market meeting on December 6th. 

 

December 6th, 6pm
Christmas Market Ulm, Entrance on the corner of Platzgasse and Münsterplatz (next to the former Abt shop, under the Glockenspiel)

 

Christmas Market Günzburg
Sarah has invited us to come have a Glühwein (or Kinderpunsch) with her at the Christmas Market in Günzburg. There will be live music from 5 to 8pm, and Günzburg is lifting parking fees in the town center on this day (please double-check; I am not taking responsibility for any ticket you might get).

Impromptu Gathering Dec. 20th

Our old friend Colin from Australia and now living in Berlin is coming to Ulm for a visit on Dec. 20th. Anyone interested in catching up with him on that day can reply to stay in the loop.

As always, you're welcome to RSVP, and I especially advise it for the Christmas market meetings, as the group will of course be moving around the market once everyone has arrived, and it might be difficult to find people amongst the crowd in the dark.

Nearest streetcar and bus stop in Ehingertor.  You can park at Roxy or along Schillerstrasse.  After 7 pm there's no time limit.

Friedrichsau, in the grassy open area next to the Volksfest grounds

 

As a reminder, softball is similar to baseball, a team sports based on hitting, throwing and catching a ball, with some moderate running involved. We play just for fun and always welcome players of all levels, from absolute beginners to Vladimir Guerrero. The equipment is provided, but you can bring your own glove if you have one. 

 

I hope many of you can come to our events! Please let me know if you plan to come to softball so that I can send you updates in case of bad weather.

Hi Everyone

 

It was great to have such a good turnout last night.  A perfect evening to be outside.

 

Unfortunately, though, there was a problem with the bills again.

The people who stayed longer ended up paying for beverages that others had forgotten to pay for,

 

Thank you Gerry, Sue, Paul and Zaid for paying the difference. 

 

I'm wondering, too, if there was confusion with the electronic system at Drei Kannen, because a few people in our group went into the restaurant to pay.

Possibly those beverages were still listed as unpaid on our server's device. 

 

Next time, please be careful about paying – and it would probably be best to pay our server directly. Maybe less confusion that way.

 

Next Stammtisch will be on 15 August.  If the weather looks good in August, I think we could go to Drei Kannen again.
