Haras Lees posted in Englisch Stammtisch in Ulm       Haras Lees May 4 at 11:28am   Important notice! Hi everyone - please note.... Our softball game for tomorrow evening has sadly been cancelled I'm afraid. George, our softball coach went to have a look at the field today, and the ground is very wet. Plus the grass is pretty long too. We think we will get even more rain tomorrow, plus it will also be humid. Therefore, the grass will get even wetter than it already is. Therefore, we have decided not to play tomorrow. I'm so sorry to those of you who wanted to come and play. I hope you all see this message, and don't go to the field, as no-one will be there! :-/ (We plan to have our next game either on Thursday 11th or Friday 12th June. I will post more info and an event page for that later on in May/at the beginning of June)... We will still meet up this Thursday evening at the restaurant though, so I hope to see plenty of you there! :-) Thanks, Sarah       Like     Comment

Fwd: May English Stammtisch - next week! :-)

Subject: May English Stammtisch - next week! :-)

Hi all J

How are you all? I hope you're all well and staying healthy. I think some people are ill will cold's at the moment, and there also seems to perhaps be some kind of tummy bug (Magen-Darm-Infekt) going around too. I had it last week! It was awful! I had to stay at home and in bed nearly all week. I was so happy when I could eat and drink normally again afterwards! ;-)

Anyway, the information for our May English Stammtisch is as follows:

This time we are separating the softball game and the restaurant, on 2 different days. George, our softball coach is going away on holiday, and in order to be able to still play a game in May, we need to bring the game forward and play it on a different day to usual. So…

The softball game will be as follows:

When:             Tuesday 5th May 2015, from 6:30pm until around 8:15/8:30pm.

Where:           Friedrichsau Park, Ulm.

N.B.: The location is the same as where we always previously played in the past. We play in the field close to the Festplatz (where the Volksfest, Französichedorf is, etc). There is also a lake nearby. For those who don't know exactly where we meet – check out this location below on Google Maps, and/or call me on my mobile if you get lost – 0171 385 1275.

Google maps location for the game: (Not where it says - Friedrichsau 7! It's the other point on the map, close to the field, not too far away from the river). https://www.google.de/maps/dir/48.410218,10.014167/Friedrichsau+7,+89073,+Ulm/@48.4087142,10.0143172,498m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m10!4m9!1m1!4e1!1m5!1m1!1s0x4799665e6af05815:0x56e254e0bacf76d4!2m2!1d10.0112!2d48.40759!3e2?hl=de

The restaurant will be as follows:

When:            Thursday 7th May 2015, from 7pm onwards.

Where:           Hong Yun Lai Asian restaurant.

Address:         Einsteinstraße 59

                        89077 Ulm

Tel:                  0731 / 602 889 28

Website:        http://hongyunlai-ulm.de/

I hope plenty of you can make it! I haven't been to this restaurant with the Stammtisch group before, but I've been wanting to try it out for a while now! I've heard from several people that the food is really great here, so I'm really looking forward to trying it out! J The photos on the website look amazing!! ;-)

Please don't forget to R.S.V.P., and also to let me know if you're planning on bringing anyone extra along with you. It just helps me a lot with the booking. Many thanks!

Take care and have a lovely long weekend everyone! :-D

All my very best,

Sarah

Fwd: English Stammtisch - Thursday 5th March!

Subject: English Stammtisch - Thursday 5th March!

Hi again everyone!

I'm so, so sorry! I made in mistake in my previous email to you regarding the date of our English Stammtisch this week! ;-)

Some of you have already noticed the mistake. Also those of you who come regularly know, that the Stammtisch is always on a Thursday evening, and not a Tuesday. But anyway, in case anyone is confused, and of course because I don't want anyone to go to the restaurant on the wrong day, here is the corrected information for you!:

We are meeting this Thursday 5th March, from 7pm onwards at Q-Muh Burger Restaurant/Steakhouse in Ulm.

(and not Tuesday 3rd as I wrote in my previous email).

Again, I apologise for that mistake, and I hope no-one will turn up tomorrow, as we won't be there! ;-)

Hope to see you on Thursday! :-D J

Take care and have a great start to the new working week! The sun is shining again beautifully today! Perhaps spring is really on its way now!... J

All the best,

Sarah

From the Irish Midlands, Desmond Egan is regarded by many as Ireland's leading con-temporary poet, having published 24 collections of poetry. He has been translated into many languages, including German, and has received many international awards for his poetry. His poem »Peace« was translated into hundreds of languages as part of a millennium celebration. Diarmuid Johnson is not only an accomplished musician, but also a poet himself, publishing mainly in Irish.
