If you're interested in when the films are showing in English at the cinemas in the area, this group is for you!! ;-)
The idea is also to show the cinemas in/around Ulm that there is in fact an interest for films to be shown in the English language!...Therefore it's extremely important that as many people join as possible, in order to show them this point!!!
So get joining and have fun with it people! :-)
I hope we all get to see films at the cinemas here in English soon, and also perhaps hopefully even together with each other!!?!! Yay!! :-D xx - at Ulm Hauptbahnhof.

Have american friends down by Laupheim-Biberach-Bodensee but not where I am everyday. Would love to meet and make more friends. I am so homesick although I`ve been here so long. Long story - just like alot of have I guess. Best regards, Caramia

Hi everybody, I joined this group because the company I work with (Scentsy) has expanded operations and sales to Germany just recently. I would like to network with as many people in this group to discuss this tremendous business opportunity. I don't want to violate any rules or unwritten rules, so please contact me (message me/friend me) so I can give you more details about the expansion to Germany. Also, I would also to someday go on vacation with my family to Germany , so I can learn more about your area, so my vacation will be AWESOME. I currently live in Austin, Texas with my wife and two children. Sarah Jane Lees, I appreciate you adding me to this group. I am looking forward to making new friends here in this group. Thanks again. Please feel free to contact me anytime, it is 7:32 a.m. Central Standard Time in the morning as I write this post. John Lopez

OK, the tables are booked for next Thursdays meet-up (2nd Feb from 7pm!!!) :-))) I've booked for 26 people so far. On the day itself I need to call the restaurant to confirm the final numbers. (It can be more or less, no probs.)
If you've clicked "maybe", and this then later becomes a "yes", please change it so I know to count you in! ;-)
Plus a little tip - the earlier you come, the more chance you'll get at getting a good seat! :-D Thanks people. xx

The Scarlet Omen: A Debut Novel of Myth and Legend

South Germany—January 20, 2012—Imagine a land where diamond coloured skyscrapers pepper the coral pink horizon while ghouls and goblins lurk in their garbage filled alleyways. Impossible? Not really.

The Scarlet Omen, a sensational piece of young adult fiction by newcomer Cinthia Koeksal portrays the symbiotic relationship between Western advancements and Eastern superstitions where teenagers are able to discuss ghosts and demons with the same enthusiasm with which they compare their latest iPad apps. In this intricately woven tale of humour, unconditional love and hair-raising magic, readers will be snatched up in a whirlwind adventure that will take them on a magical journey between worlds accompanied by a colourful band of witches, vampires, dragons and fairies.

The first novel in a planned trilogy, The Scarlet Omen charts the tale of Anjeli Xavier, a rebellious Malaysian teenager who has been plagued by visions of bloodlust, translucent spirits and Bornean pygmies all her life. She just wants to live a normal adolescent existence and have fun, but her over- protective Indian mother is smothering her as she tries to maintain what little sanity she believes she still has. As a series of events alter the course of her life, Anjeli finds herself being pushed toward her destiny: a destiny pre-written three centuries ago in the form of a bothersome prophecy.

Set in the mythical Valley of the Hornbills, a world of honour and adventure where good and evil fight to survive, The Scarlet Omen is a constant reminder of the fragility of human bonds and life itself. Readers will be transported into a world where they will begin to consider their own relationships, love lives, day to day hardships and, most importantly, their own humanity.

Find out if destiny comes to claim its own or if tyranny and black magic prevail forever. Parker Publishing Inc. presents The Scarlet Omen: available on Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com and www.parker-publishing.com in June 2012.

About the author
Cinthia Koeksal was born and raised in Malaysia. She now lives in Germany as a Business English Trainer. She has a degree in Business Commerce with majors in Marketing and Management from Monash University but much prefers spending her time "making up almost preposterous stories and sharing them with the world".

Fjoralba Turku: Jazz aus Albanien-Munich

Saxy!

Hi Michael,
Thanks for writing! You're  welcome to join the groups, as they are free and open. I personally haven't been to one of the meetings in ages, but just forward the news from Dawn & Heather's, and from Sarah's groups. If you're in Facebook, you can seen Sarah's group (link is in the blog) as well.

Cheers,

Hello there! I have just moved to Germany for a month or so and considering I am still learning the language and accommodating, I was so glad to hear about this group. I live in Bofingen area and I am not an American but I speak english since I was 10. It's been 15 years since then, so I am rather young, but I have been through a lot. Hope to hear from you and maybe one of this days if it's ok, I could join one of your gatherings.
Have a nice day, Michael.

Fw: Americans in Ulm

Good morning Alan,

I found your blog "Americans in Ulm" and I was wondering if you can give me more information. My name is Ruth, and I am from Baltimore, MD. My husband, Vincenzo, and I just moved from the U.S. to Blaustein (near Ulm) so he could work at the University of Ulm. We are interested in coming to your meet-up tomorrow or another Thursday. By any chance, is there anyone else who comes from Blaustein who we could ride with? We don't have a car yet so it can be a bit difficult to do things in the evenings because of the bus schedule. Are there other activities that this group does besides the Thursday meetings? Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Ruth

Subject: New Year English Stammtisch - This Thursday 12th January!

Hi all! J

Firstly, I wish of course a very Happy New Year to everyone!! J

I hope you all had a great Christmas and nice New Year celebrations as well, also those who went on holiday; I hope you had a great time too! ;-) Talking of holidays, I also went away and we had a really fantastic holiday. When I see you next (hopefully this week...I'll gladly tell those of you who want to know, all about it!)

So, as I just got back from holiday very recently, and just got back into the swing of things, plus going back to work again today etc,…I'm just e-mailing you about this week Stammtisch now! Sorry if it's short notice.

The details are as follows:

Where?                 Chaussee Chinarestaurant,

Adresse:

Telefon: 0731 / 384835
Herrlingerstr. 35
89081 Ulm (Söflingen.)

When?            Thursday 12th January from 19pm onwards.

Google maps location/address info: http://maps.google.de/maps?hl=de&tab=wl

Team Ulm website address (including customer reviews!): http://www.team-ulm.de/Restaurants/412

For those of you who've never been before, just to say, the food is really good at this restaurant. It's also still relatively easy to get to even if you don't have a car. (Just get the tram to the last stop (Söflingen), and then it's about a 10 minute walk from there! It's also quite near the Balutal Center, just in case you're not familiar with the exact location of the restaurant. ;-)

As always, please let me know if you want to come and how many of you there'll be, so I can book the tables more easily!

Also please let me know if you'd like me to take you off my Stammtisch Group e-mail list. ;-)

So, I hope to see you there then!

Thanks a lot!

Best wishes,

Sarah.
