Hello everyone, 

 

First of all, as it by chance happens to be today, let me all wish you a Happy Thanksgivings!

 

The next regular Stammtisch meeting will be on Friday October 20th 7pm at the Gerberhaus, in the Fischerviertel (Weinhofberg 9, 89073, Ulm).

 

In addition to this, some of us will go bowling this coming Friday October 13th 7:30pm at the New Bowling Center in Neu-Ulm (Steubenstr. 2, 89231 Neu-Ulm, accessible through the Memmingerstraβe). Please make sure to confirm if you plan to come, as I need to know how many lanes to book. Please also be on time or even a bit early, as it is not possible to join mid-game, and most of us will need to get shoes as well. (And I apologize for the short notice!)

I think there has been some confusion about English Stammtisch information.

 

Alan Heath is nice enough to post the information for two different English Stammtisch groups in Ulm on his blog.   This group – organized by Dawn and Heather – communicates using "good old" emails.  The other group – formerly organized by Sarah Lees – uses Facebook to communicate – so in the future I'll use the name Email English Stammtisch for our group, OK?

 

We have set the 3rd Thursday of each month for our Email English Stammtisch meetings – so people can plan ahead.

 

 

Let's try a different place this month -

Our next meeting will be on Friday September 22nd at the Bootshaus in Ulm. Officially, their address is Gänslände 10, 89073 Ulm, but it is of course better known as the floating restaurant on the Danube close to the Gänstor and the Maritim Hotel. 

The reservation is for 7pm. 

 

We hope to see many of you there! The restaurant asks that we tell them the exact number of people who will be coming, so make sure you RSVP.

Hello everyone, 

 

This email is an announcement for our next restaurant and softball events, which will be on different days (as opposed to what we did in the past).

 

STAMMTISCH 

The August Stammtisch will be next Friday, August 11th, at Barfüßer in Neu-Ulm (hopefully in their outdoors area close to the river). The reservation has been made for 7pm.

For those of you who, like me, are not thrilled by the standard German beer, you'll be happy to know that Barfüßer now has a larger selection of beers, with e.g. porter or IPA. It'll definitely be worth your while to come by and try some of them! (It must be said though, that they are not too keen on selling it, as they're not on all menus, the waiters don't know them well and they typically only have one or two types available at a time.)

SOFTBALL

After the great success of yesterday's game, we've decided to play again in two weeks, that is on Thursday August 17th. 

As always, the equipment is provided (dress for sports; you can wear soccer shoes as the grass is sometimes a bit slippery), think about bringing bug spray and some water. Beginners are always welcome; as a matter of fact, we had 5 beginners yesterday, and all had a great time and were surprised by how well they managed.
