Hi Everyone

Let's meet next Thursday, October 26th at Herrenkeller Gasthaus starting at 7 pm - Herrenkellergasse 4 - in Ulm.  If you're new to the area - Herrenkellergasse is just off of Platzgasse and very centrally located in Ulm.

 

Hope you can make it for some interesting conversation and of course - if you have magazines, books ,etc. in English that you would like to pass on to others, bring them along next week.

 

New items:

• I've heard that George is back from the USA.
• Kate Morse Gaugler had a baby boy - Colin - on October 10th
• On Sat. and Sun. (Oct.21st and 22nd) there is a dance/theater production in Roxy - Treffen sich 2, that I can recommend. Sorry, it's not in English.  Directed and performed by young people from the Ulm area.    OK, ok - it's Schleichwerbung (is that unsolicited advertizing?).  Jenny, my daughter is one of the dancers.

is anybody interested in a 5-week-trip to New Zealand early in January 2007? Maybe with a prior stay in Sydney for a couple of days including New Year's Eve? I already worked out the details of the tour and now I'm looking for someone to accompany me on my trip? Adjustments are of course still possible.

In addition, does anybody have relatives or good friends in Sydney to stay at their home for the New Year's Eve? It's a peak season there and accommodation is unfortunately not the cheapest.

One more baseball game on July 5th

to celebrate US Independence Day - a day late  

And Canada Day - 2 days late.

 

We could use more people than last time - to have 2 full teams.  It's much more fun that way. Remember - you don't have to know anything about baseball - or be especially physically fit to join in.  It's just for fun.  George and Matt are usually the coaches - and can tell you anything you've ever wanted to know about baseball - but were afraid to ask!

 

Let's meet at the open grass area near Donauhalle - between the Aquarium and the river - at 6.30 pm on WED. evening.  And then go to the Ulm Tent (on the river, behind Donauhalle) afterwards at about 8 pm for something to drink and/or eat.  We should be able to get a table because the concert-goers will be in the tent by then.

 

Bring your sparklers for the occasion - and any English books and/ or information you'd like to exchange with others in the group.

Hi everyone - if you have time today or tomorrow you can watch Inside Man in English at Xinedome in Ulm.  Only at 5.15 pm, though.  Next Stammtisch will be on April 26th.  I'll send details later.

Der aufgeregte Bankdirektor Arthur Case (Christopher Plummer) schaltet die einflussreiche Brokerin Madeliene White (Jodie Foster) ein, die neben den ermittelnen Beamten mit den Geiselnehmern verhanden soll. Der Bankdirektor macht sich große Sorgen, jedoch nicht um das Geld seiner Bank. Welches Geheimnis verbirgt sich hinter den Schließfächern?

Thurs 19 Jan, Mon 23 & Tues 24 at 5.15pm - and Weds Jan 25 at 10.15pm.

 

The VHS is showing a documentary about globalisation "the Corporation" at "Club Orange" on Tues 24 Jan at 8pm. It has German subtitles and is free...
